The word yearn annoys me. It phonetically sounds like pussy shit.
I managed to dodge learning about yearning because I don’t come across it very often in my dealings with real ones.
The literary app leaks it to me.
Lo and behold. It is pussy shit.
Yearning is valuing what you desperately want instead of what you immediately control, which reduces what you control, making it less likely to get what you want.
It’s a strong feeling of deep desire or longing, often for something that is terminally over and is never going to happen.
It often reflects a magical wish for something that one simply cannot have without a work ethic they don’t possess, time they don’t possess, or it comes with dire consequences for themselves and others.
The biggest yearn is the thing or person who got away.
Some yearn for the toxic ex while raising a family.
Some yearn for the big break they missed out on.
Some yearn for a lifestyle they’ve done nothing to work towards.
Some yearn to be young again and do silly clownish things to fight age.
Some yearn for the 4th Reich to happen so they can be in a right wing death squad, but cannot complete a single strict pushup.
Hang it the fuck up.
Your misery will be eternal pining for things you refuse to hunt or aren’t worth it.
Big Yearn is a transnational conglomerate of emotional vampires selling you the lie that longing is a virtue.
They want you paralyzed. They want you staring at a screen, vibrating with the dopamine of what if, while your actual life rots. You are trapped in a feedback loop of your own making.
Yearning is a scam to keep the weak weaker.
It is a biological dead end. When you pine for an ex or a future career you never start, your brain releases dopamine. You get a reward for doing nothing. You trick your internal chemistry into thinking you achieved something because the fantasy feels vivid.
This is the same mechanism that keeps people with ADHD scrolling for twelve hours. You seek the hit without the friction of reality. Nietzsche warned about this. He called it slave morality. You turn your inability to act into a spiritual achievement. You tell yourself you are deep. You are actually just stagnant.
Big Yearn thrives on your persistent demand avoidance. If they keep you in a state of perpetual wanting, you never become a threat to the status quo. You stay a consumer. You play the sad songs. You pay for the streaming services that mirror your loneliness back to you.
It is a parasitic relationship.
They feed you the aesthetic of sorrow so you never find the anger required to change.
Allow me to overexplain your misery:
Your neural pathways are becoming highways for disappointment. Every time you indulge a daydream about a life you aren’t building, you thicken the myelin in your nervous system around your failure. You are training your nervous system to prefer being a thoughtwanker.
Stop it. If you feel the urge to yearn, do something that hurts. Lift something heavy. Cold water on your face. Physicality destroys the fantasy. Your brain cannot maintain a romantic delusion while your body is under stress. You must force your attention back to the present. The Bible says hope deferred makes the heart sick. Stop deferring your life to a dream.
Kill the narrator.
That voice telling you that your longing is poetic is a sneaky fraud. It is a “defense mechanism” to protect you from the risk of rejection. Real life is messy. Real life is loud. Real life requires you to get off your ass and fail. Big Yearn wants you safe and sad. It’s giving power to a useless brain glitch to keep you weak and gay.
Choose to be effective and satisfied instead.
Kill the Yearn and Learn to Earn
You’re either a victim of your emotions or the architect of your focus. If you spend your day looking backward, you will trip over everything in front of you.
Identify your triggers. Delete the playlists. Burn the photos. Block the accounts that get you yearning.
Yearn to not be yearning dickhead.
Direct the feeling of longing to an immediate, aggressive action. When the pining starts, you work. When the sadness hits, you move. Get your reps in.
The only thing stopping you is the conditioning of Big Yearn poisoning you at a scale unseen by an all the failed generations that came before. Fuck the poets. Fuck the influencers. Get what belongs to you.
Big Yearn feeds on your inability to regulate your internal reward system. You are an addict for the hypothetical.
You crave the chemical hit of what should be because what is feels too heavy.
Are you done? Are you ready to stop?
Are you ready to take the gloves off?
This seven day protocol is a neurological reset designed to starve the parasite and get your mind back.
It’s soul destroying. And that’s exactly what’s needed because your soul is bad and I can prove it with an x-ray of your amygdala.
The 1 WEEK PLAN to KILL YEARNING
DAY ZERO: DIGITAL EXORCISM
Delete every app that facilitates your pining. Instagram, TikTok, and the streaming services that suggest sad playlists are tools of Big Yearn.
You scroll to escape the friction of real life. You seek the soft glow of a screen because the sun is too honest. Purge the triggers. If you see it, you will yearn for it. Remove the visual stimulus or accept your status as a perpetual victim.
DAY ONE: THE SOUND OF SILENCE
Music is the most potent anchor for emotional stagnation. You use songs to validate your misery. Stop. Spend twenty four hours in total silence. No podcasts. No lo-fi beats to study to.
No cinematic scores for your imaginary tragedies. Silence forces you to hear your own thoughts. It is uncomfortable. It is loud. It is necessary. You must sit with the boredom until your brain stops screaming for a distraction.
DAY TWO: SOMATIC AGGRESSION
Your body is a cage for a mind that refuses to live. High intensity physical exertion is the only way to flush the cortisol of longing. Lift until your grip fails. Run until your lungs burn.
Physical pain is the ultimate grounding mechanism. Why do you think cutting was such a huge thing for depressed and neurotic emos? Your pain might as well come with gain. Exercise. Exorcise.
It is impossible to pine for an ex or a lost career when you are struggling to draw your next breath. You are anchoring your consciousness to the physical world.
Unless, you’re a psycho who takes those thoughts to those places as fuel. 10/10 would recommend.
DAY THREE: COLD RECALIBRATION
Cold showers are a scam. They don’t improve your health or lifespan. This isn’t a cold shower golden shower post.
You’re going to do it because it sucks so much that you literally cannot think beyond the immediate moment to yearn.
The effect remains for a while after you get dry and warm.
So, bring your nervous system to extreme cold. A three minute ice bath or a freezing shower destroys the romantic narrative.
Big Yearn thrives in warmth and comfort. Yearn Weeds grow in fatty indoor brains.
It lives in the soft blankets and the dim lighting. Cold water triggers an immediate survival response. It forces your brain to prioritize the present over the past. It is a biological hard reset.
You are not deep. You are just cold. Focus on the shivering.
DAY FOUR: THE NIETZSCHEAN AUDIT
Write down every person, memory, or goal you yearn for. Look at the list. Acknowledge that your pining has done zero to bring these things closer. You are worshiping ghosts. Burn the paper. This is a symbolic execution of your slave morality.
From now on you are choosing to value what you can control over what you have lost. You are shifting from a state of being to a state of becoming.
DAY FIVE: SOCIAL FRICTION
Engage with a stranger in person. Big Yearn thrives on the isolation of the digital age. You romanticize people because you do not know them. Reality is awkward. People are flawed.
Go to a coffee shop. Look someone in the eye. Speak. This friction shatters the idealized versions of humanity you keep in your head. It replaces the dopamine of fantasy with the oxytocin of real, messy connection.
The goal is to destroy your fanciful ideas, but you may accidentally get what you were yearning for. Either way you win.
DAY SIX: STRATEGIC OBSESSION
Direct your focus toward a singular, difficult objective. You have spent a week starving the old pathways. Now you must pave a new one. Choose a skill. A business. A physical milestone.
Dedicate every waking hour to the execution. Do not visualize the success. Visualize the work. Build myelin around the process of doing. You are no longer a person who wants. You are a person who takes.
By day 7 the yearning is gone because you have no room for it. You are too busy existing. The world continues yearning. But you are free. Controlling your life.
Thanks for reading. Be good. God Bless.
